Egypt and Hittites were rivals. Ramses the 3rd led his army into battle against the Hittites. It was usually a stalemate, but Ramses the 3rd always said that they won the battle. Ramses the 2nd was the first known person to make a peace treaty with the Hittites in world history. Since Ramses wanted to build his fame, he built a city called Pi-Ramsesin the eastern delta. He also built four 66- foot tall statues of himself (that looked godlike) that guarded his tomb. He also ruled for 66 years.
