1) Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
The standard is to be able to use the pythagorean theorem in real world math problems. I am doing this in this assignment by finding the missing lengths from the building roof and the ground.
2) What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
This assignment was to find out who had killed Mr. Jackson. There were three different towers of different height. The shot that killed Mr. Jackson was from one of those towers. First thing I did was to draw a picture. I am a visual learner so it was easier for me to organize what was happening. I then drew right triangles and labeled the lengths of them. Soon, I found the missing lengths of the right triangles and found out who the culprit was. Consuelo Rubio had shot Mr. Jackson from one of the towers.
3) This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This shows that I know how to use the pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse of a right triangle. It also shows that I am able to investigate a crime scenario and figure out who the criminal is using the skills that I know.
4) I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could have improved on making the pictures more organized. Some people didn't understand the picture until I explained it to them. Another thing I could've improved on was to make my explaining paragraph more detailed. I had some points deducted because the paragraph wasn't that detailed.
5) How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can use the skill of knowing how to use the pythagorean theorem when I need to find a length of a right triangle. I might have to fit an object into a space that is in a shape of a right triangle. I will have to use the pythagorean theorem to find the length of the right triangle and find the lengths of the object to see if it fits into the right triangle.
