1. Justify how this project/activity/assignment meets the standard, using evidence from the standard itself to demonstrate your mastery and/or understanding.
This lab relates to the standard because we are able to figure out what is acidic, neutral, or basic using pH paper. By putting a drop of solution on a slip of pH paper, we will be able to tell what the pH level is by the color. The color of the pH paper will change depending on what solution is put on the slip of paper.
2. Elaborate on at least 1 Science & Engineering Practice you feel you met/gained from completing this project.
I feel like that I have the gained the skill of planning and carrying out investigations. This lab had me plan out and investigate which solutions are acid, neutral, and basic. I obtained data from this lab about many different solutions that we have tested.
3. Upon reflecting on your work/experience and/or score, what is one SEP you could have done better on? How will improving in this SEP benefit future works/projects? Give me next steps for improving in this SEP.
One thing I could've done better on was to take it slowly because I was rushing too much. I spilled some of the solutions on the table and got the litmus paper all wet. Another thing that I could've improved was to not put glue on the litmus paper. It changed the color of it because glue was a basic solution.
4. How will you presently apply the content and skills you learned from this assignment in the real-world,outside of the classroom? Make connections between the content and your life.
I can use the information on what is acidic, neutral, and basic when cleaning. I know that if I put something acidic on metal, it will rust. Basic solutions will make things clean. Knowing these things will help me with cleaning and eating as well. I will be sure to not eat basic solutions because they are mostly for cleaning.
