This article is related to the book Stargirl because in the novel, a character named Stargirl is not necessarily in a group. She is left out because she is unique. Some characters in the novel accept the way Stargirl is, but most of the characters don’t. They think that she’s weird just because she is different. Stargirl was bullied in the novel by other kids at her school. Nobody barely talked to her and gave her the silent treatment. The article is helping students in the real world like that. “Lili was born with a cranial facial syndrome. “She would call me almost daily, ‘Mom, I have nobody to eat with, and the girls don’t want me to sit with them,’” Talmus said, who said her daughter would finish her lunch and call her from the restroom crying. “Lili was never teased or bullied, but was almost suffering as much because she felt invisible.”Lili died at the age of 15 from medical complications of her syndrome.” (page 2, paragraph 4-6) This article talks about how students at school who don’t fit in are left out. So this campaign helps students to fit into groups. The campaign also helps to stop bullying for students who are a little bit different than others.
How does this issue relate to your own life (4-5 sentences)?
Bullying and sitting alone at lunch can be happening at every school. This issue is happening every day without us realizing it. I think this issue is happening at our school, so we should try the campaign. We can try and talk to those who have noone to sit with and sit with them. I’m sure that they would very much enjoy having someone to eat and talk to at lunch. It’s impossible to have every single person to have someone to talk to and eat with at lunch time. We can be making a big change. This issue seems very serious. I feel like some students are also suiciding just because they have no one to sit and talk with at lunch. This issue relates to my own life because I think that I am one of the people who are ignoring people who are alone. I am going to try and make conversation with somebody who is sitting by themselves at lunch time.
